Chungking Mansion Tour


Chungking Mansion is a mysterious place for many Hong Kong people. Cultural Bloom brought the participants to the building, allowing them to taste the delicious snacks and learn about different national and cultural customs. The participants were delighted with the tour.

Nanlian Nunnery Tour


Cultural Bloom brought the participants to the Nanlian Nunnery, a Tang Dynasty-style architecture. In the tour, ethnic minorities were able to know more about the special Hong Kong culture and history.

Yim Tin Tsai Tour


Yim Tin Tsai is a place of tranquility and calmness. Cultural Bloom brought the visitors to the gorgeous natural landmark to explore the Hakkanese culture and the mix of Chinese and Western cultures. The participants were thrilled by the journey as the village witnessed the localization of Catholicism and the history of salt farming.

Workshops

Henna Workshop


Many Hong Kong people love painting. Henna is a good choice for them. Through henna painting, the participants and ethnic minorities had a chance to chat with each other, thus acquiring a more thorough understanding of different cultures. The totems of henna art also symbolize different values of the culture.

Cooking Workshop


In the workshop, the participants tried to make Indonesian food such as Gado Gado, with the guidance of ethnic minorities. On the other hand, the participants taught the ethnic minorities how to make fried rice in Hong Kong style. Although the preparation time was longer than expected, the participants were joyous as they could share their experiences and stories with the others.

Meeting with Imam


Islamic culture and religion are complicated. It is full of philosophy and theories. Therefore, we invited Imam Wang from Kowloon Mosque to have a sharing with our participants. Through the sharing session with Imam, perplexities were solved. During the session, the participants also tasted the delectable gourmet food from Pakistan.

Cultural Game Day


Through ice breaking games and team cooperation games, the participants and ethnic minorities were able to familiarize with each other. At the end of the session, multi-cultural friendships were established which was a good starting point for understanding different cultures.

Talks and Sharings

Human Library


Co-organised with the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), Cultural Bloom invited an Indian guest, Dilpreet, to share her original stories in Hong Kong. EdUHK participants asked a lot of questions related to culture, religion, living styles and so on. At last, Dilpreet called for unity between different races to fight against discrimination in this day and age. The participants applauded the eagerness and willingness of the guest and thus good relationships were forged.

BGCA Talk


Cultural Bloom was invited as a guest speaker at the Mei Fu Youth Center under BGCA. Through the sharing of different case studies and the first-hand experience of interacting with ethnic minorities, social workers and staff from BGCA grasped a better understanding of different cultures. Henceforth, they could organize more activities targeted at the ethnic minority youth.



School Talk


Cultural Bloom was invited by Stewards Pooi Kei College in the summer break to organize a cultural showcase. Two ethnic minorities guest speakers were invited to share their lifestyle and experience in Hong Kong. Even though the activity was organized through zoom due to the Covid 19, more than 100 students participated in the activity. Students were able to have an in-depth interaction with the guest speakers, embracing cultural diversity.
